We were awoken to the sound of a fox capturing and carrying off the last of our dear chicken flock this morning. It was a rather disturbing thing to wake to but in a way we are at the very least glad to know what has been stealing our lovely layer hens, one by one over the past several weeks. A friend had suggested it was a Mother Fox come to feed her babies and that does make the losses easier- but we will miss our gals, we will. Forever grateful for your eggs and your splendor Marshmallow, Banana, Bumble Bee, Princess Lea, and Blondie. RIP

Hump Day
We seem to visit the Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks far more infrequently than I'd like- and when we do, we tend to pick the hottest days of the year to go! It was intense in the sun today, but that didn't keep us from enjoying one of the areas most cherished landmarks- the moment you've had enough of the sunshine, you can scurry away into one of the many little shaded and themed nooks of the gardens. Every time we go, I think I leave saying the same thing: We MUST return sooner than later!

Catch and Release
As I grow up a little every passing season, I've come to find that I am in fact- not an extrovert. I'm not shy or private or quite or timid, but I'm not one who craves social engagements. Maybe that means I'm a getting old?! Sometimes, I'm just not a party person. I don't have FOMO (fear of missing out) for the same things that I used to as a young adult. Instead of wanting to see and be seen and be all up in all the things that go on it this great town, my FOMO is quite the opposite. I crave home time. I crave the everyday. I fear missing the quiet of slow evenings with close friends, eating in, roaming our wild Ozark yard, deer in our yard, card play with my first born, and a simple game of firefly catch and release. I love letting the house get cluttered and ignoring the bustle and being low and slow- it's nice to take the time to just be, sometimes. Lord knows it's easy to let the days get away from you.
